In this episode I interview Kyle Kennedy, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) who resides in Ottawa Canada. He discusses the basic principles of power and speed development for non-track athletes. He also expands on a common theme on this show… mindset.
While training, Kyle keeps these five tenets in mind:
- Train movements over muscles
- You need to rest
- Set your workouts up accordingly
- Prime the nervous system
- Recover the nervous system
“The coach-athlete relationship is very important. To achieve the best results, we must trust each other and work well together. I always try to keep communication lines open. If an athlete has a problem with something I’m saying or how I’m coaching, I want them to know they can talk to me about it.” – Kyle Kennedy, CSCS
